Discover CDC, Inc./Friendship's Early Education Programs

Where Great Minds Are Born

About Us

OUR MISSION:

The mission of the Community Development Center, Inc. is to provide quality child development services through a comprehensive program that values the total child, their family and community. We strive to provide a safe, stimulating learning environment designed to support children in developing the confidence to learn, and feel competent: to support staff in their active learning; and support parents as the child's primary teacher.

OUR PROGRAM:

We welcome families with children between the ages of 3 months and 12 years old. We associate with licensed Family Child Care Home Providers (FCCH) for infants to 5 years old and operate 3 centers for toddlers, preschool, and after-school care.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:

Our philosophy is based on the understanding that: families want their child involved in a safe, healthy learning environment; families desire information and involvement on the growth and development of their child, and families need child care services due to economic reasons. We seek to serve such needs through the following goals:

  1. Provide a developmental program that will support the cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical growth of young children.

  2. Meet the needs of young children and their families through the curriculum and related activities and services.

  3. Work within the larger community on behalf of young children and their families.

OUR CURRICULUM:

Community Development Center, Inc. seeks to offer a challenging and supportive environment where children can explore, question, and create. We propose to adhere to the maxim “CHILDREN LEARN BY DOING” with the understanding that children develop at different rates and learn in different ways. We believe that children need to be supported in their self-learning, as they have a natural curiosity and love for knowledge. We use the High/Scope Curriculum at at our center-based program and are currently working on enhancing the implementation of the “project approach”. For the FCCH program each provider has developed their curriculum, daily routine/schedule to support growth and development noted below.
